Report Of God’s Work At Leadership Conference 2016

December 8, 2016 By Admin

God met with us during LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE. The workshops and sermons were timely, intensely biblical and accompanied by the working of the Holy Spirit in hearts and minds. We had 530 registered participants, a 20% increase from last year! The conference attendees came from across Zambia and also from Kenya, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The CABC team rose to the challenge of the unexpected turnout and worked together in humility and with grace.

During the week three main sessions ran simultaneously. The Church Leaders met together for 23 workshops during the week. A variety of speakers taught throughout the week. Dr. Voddie Baucham was a keynote teacher and handled sessions on the conference theme: Expository Apologetics.

The Pastors (180 of them) gathered for a study entitled Cosmic Conflict taken from Ephesians 6. Dr Sam Horn was the main teacher in this class. Over 100 Chaplains attended the class Introduction to Chaplaincy taught by CABC Director for Chaplaincy services Pastor Allan Ilunga. Another of our keynote speakers, Dr Conrad Mbewe spent time teaching the church leaders, pastors and chaplains during the week. Throughout the day the groups would come together for preaching and for fellowship and meals.

The day concluded with a service that was open to the general public. Monday through Thursday the Word of God was expounded in these evening services. The attendance most nights pushed to nearly 600 people under the conference shelter.

Thursday night the College celebrated the 8th Graduation Ceremony. A total of 12 students received their academic awards. Pastor Voddie Baucham brought a challenging message to the graduates pointing to the supremacy of Christ as the motive for their life work. Eleven Chaplains were awarded their Chaplaincy Certification in acknowledgement of completing the Chaplains training program. Several pastors were awarded a block class certificate for successfully completing nine classes in block class format here at the college.

We hope you will enjoy the photo gallery from the conference. You can also see some of Saidi Chishimba’s professional quality photos from the week by using searching for this link on Facebook: #leadershipconference2016photogallery

We thank God for the many partnerships that allowed us to put quality theological and ministry resources into the hands of every person who registered and attended this year’s conference. Thank you to Christian Book Distributors, Theological Book Network, Gerald Frye, The Gospel Coalition International Outreach and Leadership Ministries Worldwide! May God bless these partners for their commitment to training and equipping church leaders in Africa!

If you missed the blessing this year, please pencil in these dates for the 2017 Leadership Conference: November 27 through December 1. Hope you will make plans now to join us!

“Restoring Our First Love” Leadership Conference at CABC

September 30, 2015 By Admin

First Love Conference
Christ warned the church at Ephesus: You have left your first love!
This is an urgent warning that must be heard by the church today!

I have something against you, because you have left your first love. Remember where you have fallen from and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come suddenly and remove your light out of its place Eph. 2:4

The warning is clear! Failure to return to our first love for God means loss of ministry and the removal of our light in a dark world! This year the 12th annual Leadership Conference at Central Africa Baptist College will focus on this theme: Restoring Our First Love!

The question that must be answered is not Do you love Jesus?
The question is: Do you love Jesus more than you love anything else?

The problem is that too often we are in love with the wrong things. Join us for Restoring Our First Love Conference where we will look at the enemies of first love and discover how we can regain our “first love” if it has been lost.

Don’t miss the 12th annual Central Africa Baptist Leadership Conference at Central Africa Baptist College & Seminary.

During this conference Pastors are invited to attend a special series of lectures on expository preaching entitled: Invitation to Biblical Preaching. You will further develop your understanding and skill in the study of a passage and learn how to put together biblical messages from the text. This class will be co-taught by Dr. Sam Horn and Dr. Conrad Mbewe.

Chaplains are invited to attend the class being offered at the Conference as part of the Chaplaincy Certification Program: The Dual Role of the Chaplain. Please contact our Director of Chaplaincy Services, Mr. Allan Illunga for further information. +260973936784

Report from Leadership Conference 2014

December 8, 2014 By Admin

Packed House

This year marks the 11th time a Leadership Conference has been held at CABC. Knowing that we are in our 8th year as a college shows you the importance given to this conference through the years!

Leadership Conference is a week of challenging instruction from God’s Word and sweet fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ. The conference is one way that Central Africa Baptist College & Seminary fulfills the commitment to Life-on-Life discipleship to the end that 2 Timothy 2:2 is fleshed out one life at a time! “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

Our theme this year is “Reclaiming Authentic Christianity.” Authentic Christianity is under attack across Africa. There is a pseudo-Christianity sweeping Africa that is a cause for great concern among those who love the gospel! Churches are filled with people on Sunday. Many of those attending give mental assent to the idea that the Bible is God’s Word, that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead. Yet mental assent is not saving faith! This is a “Christianity” that does not stand to the test of Scripture. A “faith” that does not change our heart, reprogram our motives and revolutionize our lifestyle is not authentic! The theme of this year’s conference is a clarion call to authentic Christian faith and living.

Church Leaders Workshops

Grave

The conference is divided into three sections: Church Leaders Workshops, Pastor’s Expository Block Class and Chaplains Block Class.

In the Church Leaders Workshops where a variety of speakers handled topics that helped conference attendees lay a foundation for understanding Authentic Christianity: Justification by faith (Dr. Conrad Mbewe), Marks of Authentic Christianity (Pastor Kabwe Kabwe), Personal Holiness a result of Authentic Christianity (Dr. Sam Horn). As we have moved through the middle part of the conference speakers have dealt with ministry issues related to the theme such as: Producing Authentic Christianity in Our Youth (Pastor Chopo Mwanza), Defending Authentic Christianity from False Teachers (Pastor Saidi Chishimba), and Living as an Authentic Christian in an pretentious world (Pastor Andrew Matoke). Workshops have also dealt with personal living in relation to Authentic Christianity with subjects such as: Biblical generosity a result of Authentic Christianity (Kevin Sherman), Reclaiming Authentic Christianity in our Homes (Pastor Ken Banda) and Authentic Christianity and Suicide (Pastor Grave Singogo).

Pastor’s Expository Preaching Block Class

Pastors Class

The Pastor’s Block Class this conference was handled by Dr. Les Ollila and Dr. Sam Horn. The sub-theme in the pastors track was “Reclaiming Authentic Ministry”. Dr Horn taught through the key issues in the Book of 1 Peter while Dr. Ollila handled issues related to developing an authentic life as a minister and a biblical philosophy of ministry. The feedback from the nearly 200 pastors attending the class has been overwhelming. A combination of personal revival and practical ministry applications. By the way, notes will be uploaded to our CABC Resources page within the next week or so for those unable to attend – so check back to download your own personal copies.

Chaplains Block Class

The third section of the conference was the Chaplains Block Class. Over 60 chaplains from the Zambia Army, Zambia Prisons and Zambia Police are in attendance. Chaplains are enrolled in our Chaplaincy Certification Program. Chaplains who successfully complete the 16 week program receive formal Chaplaincy Certification recognized by the various branches of service in Zambia. The class this week is: The History and Theology of Chaplaincy. Francis Kaunda, Director of Chaplaincy Training, is taking the chaplains back to the 1600’s and tracing the history of chaplaincy to the present history in Zambia. Pastor Saidi Chishimba is teaching a biblical theology of Chaplaincy. The Chaplains have been exposed to special workshops to several other key lecturers during the week.

General Preaching Sessions

CABC President Philip Hunt preaching the opening general session.

Each day begins and ends with a general preaching session. The opening session was preached by Philip Hunt, president of Central Africa Baptist College & Seminary, on the theme of the conference. Dr. Hunt preached a bird’s eye view of 1 Peter showing the theological foundation of Authentic Christianity and the marks that should be evidenced in our life if we indeed are authentic Christians.

Tuesday night Dr. Ollila preached a message entitled “Where Is Your Confidence” from Philippians 4:13 encouraging us that we can do all things only through Christ’s strength.

On Wednesday evening Dr. Sam Horn battled a powerful rainstorm to preach a message on The Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6 reminding us that our prayers ought to reflect the priorities of God, and the provisions we ask for are for the purpose of carrying out HIs priorities not our own.

Pastor Conrad Mbewe preaching the Thursday evening general session.

On Thursday evening Conrad Mbewe preached on the subject of “Moral Transformation A Proof of Authentic Christianity” from 1 John. This was a clear and clarion call to salvation. The lost were called to believe in Jesus now! We who are “abiding in Christ” were given a clear presentation of the gospel to share with the lost around us.

Highlighting Sign Language Ministry

Sign Language
Sign language students singing: Just As I Am – I Come Broken.

A couple of special events during the week that blessed our hearts. On Wednesday evening the Sign Language class presented a special number entitled “I Come Broken”. If you have never heard this rendition of Just As I Am you can listen to it here. The dramatization of the song through sign language interpretation was moving.

Highlighting the Chaplaincy Ministry at CABC

More than 60 Chaplains attending Leadership Conference sharing a special in song!

On Thursday evening the Chaplaincy Ministry was presented. Mr. John Zimba, Chaplain General for Zambia Prison Service encouraged pastors and churches to partner with the Chaplains to take the gospel into the Army, Prisons, National Service and Police. The 65 assembled chaplains all took the platform to sing. One of their numbers was the children’s song, “I’m A Soldier In The Army Of The Lord.” That song takes on added significance when those in military uniform are the ones singing it!

Resource distribution
Francis Kaunda distributing books to conference attendees.

One final note: Each year God has enabled CABC to print hundreds of pages of notes, bind those into workbooks and place them in the hands of each conference attendee. We have also been able to give helpful book to each registered participant, and an additional commentary or ministry related resource to the pastors and chaplains. Leadership Conference this year was sponsored financially in large part by a couple who love Christ and desire for men and women to be trained for ministry across our continent. Though they desire to remain anonymous we wish to say THANK YOU!

We hope to see many of you at #LC2015 being held at the CABC campus November 30 – December 4, 2015!
